Africa is not a single bucket list destination, but a continent rich with diversity, adventure, heritage, colour and or course, incredible landscapes and wildlife.
Safari Honeymoon in Africa
If adventure is your thing and you’re an active couple, you may want to choose a destination to offer plenty of opportunity to explore and experience unique activities on a Safari Honeymoon. Africa is one of the best honeymoon destinations in the world offering the most romantic luxury safari honeymoons.
“A few years ago I (Richard) undertook a 3 night safari at the Masai Mara National Reserve. The sheer diversity of terrain, wildlife and style of accommodation made this safari one of the most unforgettable holidays I have undertaken. Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves showcasing an abundance of species including the ‘Big Five’- I managed to see four out of the five; not bad. Maasai Mara is a perfect option for visitors to Kenya who have limited time or would simply like to add on a safari to an existing trip.
*Multi-centre idea – Kenya Safari & Zanzibar to an existing trip.
Tour Includes: Nyeri, Samburu Game Drive, Aberdare National Park, Aberdare Mountains, Lake Nakuru, Acacia – Spotted Savannah
Carefree ref (Cos)
Garden Route, Safari & Winelands – 10 days. Tour includes: Cape Town, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Albertinia, Hermanus, Winelands.
Conveniently situated at the end of the Garden Route (South Africa) the Eastern Cape Game Reserves offer fantastic ‘Big 5’ game viewing in wonderfully scenic surroundings.
Multi centre idea – Dubai, Cape Town & Eastern Cape Safari
Kruger is famous for fiery sunrises and abundant wildlife, it’s a huge area covering 7,580 square miles and is one of the largest and oldest game reserves in Africa.
*Multi-centre idea – Victoria Falls, Kruger & Mauritius
A safari in the Serengeti National Park attracts thousands of visitors each year. Ngorongoro Crater – often called the eighth wonder of the world – is a must see for it’s sheer beauty. Herds of Gazelle roam beside lions and endangered black rhino and cheetahs can be spotted through the early morning mist.
*Multi-centre idea – Tanzania & Zanzibar (stunning beach, great diving)
In 2005 I was extremely lucky to join other agents on a familiarisation trip to Kenya taking in a three night Safari on the Maasai Mara followed by five nights in Mombasa enjoying the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Kenya offers the combination of safari and beach without effort. During my trip I experienced a magical mix and the beautiful diversity of Kenya’s incredible landscape, abundant wildlife and fascinating culture.
The typical day on safari, for me, consisted of tea and coffee with muffins and biscuits (before sunrise) at 5:30am, early morning game drive at 6am and at 9:30am we had breakfast back at the lodge. 1pm for lunch and from 2pm-3:30pm we had free time to relax, swim and/or sleep. More tea/coffee and cake for 4pm, 4:30pm evening game activity and dinner for 8pm.
I can truly say an African Safari is one of the most unforgettable holidays you will ever have.
Carefree Tip: Book a sunrise hot air balloon over the plains.

Any trip along the Garden Route in South Africa would not be complete without a stop at one of the world-famous game reserves. My safari took me to Shamwari Game Reserve and Rippons Safari Lodge located on the Eastern Cape a short drive away from Port Elizabeth.
During the drive into the reserve we were met by various road signs depicting warnings of some of the animals we may encounter on the road which certainly heightened our anticipation of what to expect when out on safari.
Once we arrived at Rippons Safari Lodge we were greeted by a nice cool drink and shown to our room which was modern and spacious inside. After a walk around the lodge to get our bearings we hadn’t long to wait until our first game drive in the evening. Our guide and driver was a wonderful man, who had a fabulous knowledge of the park and where we were likely to get good wildlife sightings. A number of jeeps departed from the lodge and all the guides kept in contact via radio so when one spotted an animal the other drivers would get the location by radio and try to catch up. We got the chance to get close to lots of different animals not to mention, giraffe, elephants, rhino, impala, springbok to name a few! Game drives last about 2-3 hours and you usually have one in the morning and one in the evening, be prepared to wrap up warm as it can get very cold before the sun rises. You have some free time during the day when you can relax at your lodge or take a dip in the pool. On our last evening game drive our driver set up a picnic on the bonnet of the jeep and we got to watch one of the most amazing sunsets. A safari is an amazing experience and something that everyone should try at least once!!!
