I may be an adult but there is nothing wrong with wanting to fulfil a childhood dream……
SWEDISH LAPLAND…..
Staying in the village of Karesuando, which straddles Sweden and Finland, along the renowned ‘Northern Lights Route’ – so called because it is one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis. Many of the Lapland activities take place along the Route, in the pristine landscapes of Northern Lapland, which are untouched by the mass-market commercialism now so sadly found in other areas of Lapland. Here, from the base in Karesuando, the activities are shaped by the nature around them, which they aim to preserve and renew.
Flying direct from Belfast International airport let the dream begin…
Fun activities include Northern Lights Snowmobile Safari, Reindeer Camp and Call of the Wild Husky Safari
Staying in a Fika Room – These twin rooms offer a generous 15.8 square metres of space, with en-suite facilities. Split over two floors, these rooms are named after a Swedish everyday institution: fika. Fika is a time to relax, usually with coffee and cake, and reflect. With the hotel located at the heart of True Lapland and surrounded by sprawling plains of Arctic tundra, we couldn’t think of a better place to make time for fika.
Maybe time for a few more optional extras to be squeezed into this epic adventure…
*Ice fishing by snowmobile
*A night in an igloo
So fluffy socks, scarfs & gloves at the ready!
