Margaret is just back from an incredible Familiarisation Trip in Tenerife provided by Jet2 Holidays and Spring Hotels Group.
“I stayed at the Hotel Vulcano in Playa des las Americas; a sister Hotel to the Bitacora, Playa des las Americas and The Arona Gran, Los Cristianos (adult only).
All of the hotels will have UP Rooms, these are larger rooms with a huge balcony, sunbeds and an outdoor shower. More importantly, if you book these rooms you have full access to the rooftop pool club which serves delicious snacks and a full array of alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks from 10am/6pm. Bali beds, an infinity pool and a hot tub complete this lovely adult only area.
The Vulcano was a really beautiful, modern hotel which has been completely refurbished. The location is just fabulous, more upmarket and close to the beach, with The Safari shopping centre just beside it (brilliant modern, dining and shopping venue) It is an adult focused hotel with mainly an older clientele. The food is on a B&B or half board basis and was really excellent with endless choices – definitely a really superb 4*. The main pool area was beautifully landscaped with poolside terraced rooms.
The Bitacora was the family focused hotel (just across the road from The Vulcano, so a great location!) with lots of facilities for kids…a large waterslide, huge soft play, shaded playground, a games zone, and a night-time play room…lots of entertainment for all ages! All the rooms have been refurbished and are the same as the other hotels. There are large connecting family rooms. The hotel is closing from February to April 2020 and the dining and pool areas are getting a total refurb. They have purchased land beside the hotel and have earmarked it for a water park. During the refurb they are also getting the UP Pool area.
The Arona Gran is the adult only hotel in Los Cristianos. It had the most scenic location, overlooking the sea with the beach just a pleasant walk along the promenade. The dining here was just superb with one of the restaurants overlooking the sea; definitely a more relaxed vibe in this hotel.
Los Cristianos was quieter but within walking distance of Playa de las Americas and had lots of lovely little restaurants and some decent shopping venues.
Siam Water Park – not my cup of tea – but nonetheless it really impressed me. It was brilliantly done with a large number of various slides, toddler slides/splash park and Adult Only areas…also really good dining venues which were reasonably priced. There was also an artificial beach area with sunbeds/umbrellas (no charge), a massive pool and wave machine; pool towels can be hired with a refundable deposit of 5 euros. The shuttle bus which goes around all of the 3 resorts is free.”
