Dragon Tiger Tower

Dragon Tiger Tower

The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas is a temple on Lotus Lake in Kaohsiung’s Zuoying District. The temple was constructed in 1976. The Tiger Tower is one of the towers, and the Dragon Tower is the other.

The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are one of the unique locations to visit in Kaohsiung. The most notable feature of this location is its entrance and exit concept, which is reminiscent of a tiger’s mouth and a dragon’s throat. This structure’s symbolic meaning is turning back bad fortune and entering into a good one.

Yellow walls, red pillars, and orange tiles adorn the seven-story tower. A bridge connects the front to the shore. Inside the temple, there are paintings of Ksitigarbha. The Tiger Tower contains paintings of the twelve Magi, the Jade Emperor’s thirty palaces, and Confucius. The towers have two spiral staircases, one for ascending and one for descending visitors. This structure exemplifies traditional Kaohsiung culture. The Small Tortoise Mountains, Spring and Autumn Pavilions, 5-mile Pavilion, and Pei Chi Pavilion, as well as a surrounding lake, overlook the towers.
