Bulgaria offers beginners a great opportunity to learn to ski in a great value for money destination with cheap apres ski and excellent skiing. The resorts have friendly and patient English speaking instructors with great nursery slopes also more challenging runs for ‘improvers’.
Three resort areas featured on flights from Belfast and Dublin are:
Bansko
A modern ski resort with an exciting mix of breath-taking scenery, excellent ski facilities, modern lift infrastructure, in a traditional spirited Bulgarian town.
Borovets
Established as one of Bulgaria’s most popular ski resorts. It’s a lively resort full of bars and cafes and these along with a large amount of clubs make it very popular on the apres ski scene. The varied slopes makes Borovets popular with all grades of skiers.
Pamporovo
It is claimed that Pamporovo, which is high in the Rhodope mountains, is the sunniest ski resort in Europe. Ski holidays based in Pamporovo are particularly suited to both beginners and intermediates. You may also use your lift pass to ski in at Chepelare, a free shuttle bus takes you between the resorts.
Apres-ski in Pamporovo is great fun and not expensive, with a number of discos and lively bars.
