Diving

Diving in Mauritius
Turquoise waters and crystal-clear lagoons, Mauritius is a diver’s paradise with year-round warm waters to explore. Water temperatures vary throughout the year between 22C to 28C with visibility at its best from November to March and the west coast being generally warmer than the east coast.
Although Mauritius might not be in the same league as the Egyptian Red Sea or Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, there is a vast array of excellent dive sites with soft coral reefs and wrecks. So, whether you’re a beginner or seasoned expert, all our Mauritius hotels offer exceptional PADI dive centres with comprehensive training programmes.
We’d recommend staying at Victoria Beachcomber, it’s one of the best dive centres in Mauritius. Here you can embark on a tropical underwater adventure and explore ancient wrecks, discover 50 species of magnificent coral and enjoy up close encounters with vibrant marine life. The diving experts at each centre will happily point you in the right direction of more excellent diving spots for you to explore.

Snorkelling in Mauritius
The warm, safe waters of Mauritius provide superb opportunities for snorkelling. Whilst all of the Beachcomber hotels in Mauritius offer complimentary snorkelling trips for guests, we do recommend you take your own equipment. Warmer temperatures tend to attract more fish so to heighten your chances visit during Mauritius’s summer months – considered the best time to spot marine life.
The Blue Bay Marine Park is best known for glass-bottomed boat trips but at just six metres deep there is an abundance of incredible coral and marine life to discover. Trou aux Biches with its shallow waters is also a popular snorkelling site, but if you are looking for more spots to explore have a chat with the dive team as they will be able to give you an insider’s guide to the best spots.
